The SIT probing the Lokayukta in-house corruption scandal has found that Ashwin (in pic), son of the Karnataka Lokayukta, would receive huge cash flows from benami accounts involving government officials. To save himself from raids at the time of retirement, a senior bureaucrat transferred Rs.1 crore to Ashwin’s account.
The SIT is in the final stages of completing its investigations. It said many realtors deposited the money to Ashwin and others’ accounts following successful land deals with Lokayukta’s support. The chargesheet filed by the SIT in the Lokayukta court has statements from the depositors, some of whom were unknown to Ashwin.
In one such case, a Pavan Kumar Tiwari from Nampally, Hyderabad, has given statement to SIT confirming transfer of `1 crore into Ashwin Yerabatti’s account on March 17, 2015.
“I was introduced to Anil Singh, who is sales manager with IndusInd Bank, and we became friends. On March 16, 2015, Anil told me to do a fund transfer of `1 crore. Again on March 17, Anil contacted me again and said a person named Raju would transfer the amount to my account. I got the message from the bank regarding two deposits — one of `99.75 lakh and another of `75,000. I told this to Anil and he sent me the account details of one Ashwin’s ING Vysya bank account xxxxxxxx9160. The money was transferred to Ashwin’s account. I received `25,000 in commission from Anil”.
“We have information that the money transferred by a senior bureaucrat, now retired, was to avoid raids or cases at the time of retirement,” an SIT source said.
