The chargesheet submitted by the Special Investigating Team (SIT) reveals the Lokayukta was indeed a crucial witness in the scam. In the chargesheet documents available with TOI, the SIT wrote, “Soon after Lokayukta SP Sonia Narang filed an FIR against Krishna Rao alias Ashwin Rao, Bhaskar Rao ordered Sandeep, the official cook at the Lokayukta’s residence, to switch off his mobile and go on leave for 15 days.” The cook, the SIT reveals, acted as an emissary for Ashwin and other accused.
